Speakeasy Series: Wine Tasting SOLD OUT!

Thursday, March 15, 2018
7:00 pm9:30 pm
Joslyn Castle

In our third installment of the Speakeasy Series, we are excited to host a wine tasting led by certified sommelier Jeffrey Bell.

The evening begins with a drink and tour of George Joslyn's rarely-seen mancave basement. After you explore the former epic space, we'll get settled in for a guided tasting of the world's best wines. To complement the tasting, Cheesemonger and ACS Certified Cheese Professional Miranda McQuillan will be on hand with world-class pairings.

There will also be an opportunity to pick up a new set of wine glasses, mixers, and other quality drinking accessories from our friend and event sponsor Boyd of The Simple Man.

About our expert: Miranda McQuillan

"Salut! My name is Miranda McQuillan, and my passion is food, rooted heavily in cheese, because cheese is culture, history and life rolled into one rind! Miranda’s Cheese Club is our vehicle for bringing delicious food and a better food life to the masses-all of them. I started my cheese journey 20 years ago in France and in 2015 I passed my Certified Cheese Professional exam through the American Cheese Society, making me one of just 900 people in the USA.

What inspired me as an artist, and what makes my medium food is because it tells a story, it makes people feel good, and it creates connections across time and space. That is what we try and share, as well as help people develop their own food life and journey. Creating pairings with food and spirits and all mediums of art, music, poetry, spoken word, improv, like a sultry sax and a Merlot soaked, purple rinded, sweet and spicy American original.

The time I spent living in France as a student in college, eating street food, traveling and living a delicious eurotrash life, has inspired me the rest of my life. As I became a speaker of language, a communicator and began to find my voice, I saw beauty and life that changed my world. On to Chicago, Las Vegas All over the USA, especially the Midwest, my home I evolved, developed some roots after a vagabond life of love and food. Food belongs to us, and it is what informs color and sustainability, bounty and a mothers love. Sharing new and exciting foods and creating multisensory experiences is my passion, and I’d love to share some food and life with you and yours!"
